A Model to Manage the Robot Soccer Team in PPD - Logic Model

In the quest to achieve excellence in the Robotics, the Port Dickson Polytechnic Robot Soccer Team is using the Logic Model to keep us on track.

Every activities to be implemented will then be measured to ensure that the outcome will be as planned.

There are 5 areas of measurement, namely :-
  1. Planning and Assessment
  2. Training and Collaboration
  3. Research
  4. Competition
  5. Development of Robot Soccer System

We, at PPD will strive to do our best.

Lessons Learned from 2nd FIRA Malaysia Cup - Formation of PPD Robot Soccer Club

Fresh from the 2nd FIRA Malaysia Cup in Johor Bharu Polytechnic, efforts were made to register Port Dickson Polytechnic Robot Soccer Club as a way to open up the interest of Robotics to all students whether they are of engineering based or not. The important thing is the great interest in this field.

A proteam committee was formed with the gracious approval of the Director of Port Dickson Polytechnic Tuan Hj Mohd. Kharir Bin Mohd. Ibrahim on the 16th of June 2008.

The club presently has 25 members under 5 advisors which are

  1. Mr Abdul Rahim Bin Ibrahim
  2. Mr Ong Seng Keong
  3. Mrs Norhayati Bt Jais
  4. Mr Khairun Syatirin Bin Md Salleh
  5. Mr Haspirudin Bin Basiron

A Walk In the Past- 2nd FIRA Malaysia 2008

The 2nd FIRA Malaysia Cup was held on the 17th to 21st April 2008 in Johor Bharu Polytechnic.

It was an informative and education experience as all students and lecturers involved had trained and conducted numerous research on the Robot Soccer System.

A seminar on robotics was held in which participants from each of the 8 polytechnics presented papers on the research that was done after the 1st FIRA Malaysia Cup in 2007.

The papers presented are as follows :-

  1. Robot Soccer: A Part of The Curriculum at Malaysian Polytechnics - PUO
  2. Preventive Maintenance For Robot Soccer Mirosot - PKB
  3. Micro Controler Based Projects Through Mobile Robot Competition - PSP
  4. Systemetic Color Tunig for Mirosot SP Robosoccer 5 vs 5 - PPD
  5. RS232 to USB Conversion for Mirosot Robot Soccer Purpose - PJB
  6. Experiences, Constraints and Solution to Problems Arose Throughout the Process of Teaching and Learning of Robot Soccer - POLIMAS
  7. The Charging Methods for Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries on Robot Soccer - PKK
  8. Rationale for the Establishment of Robot Soccer Club - PKS

It is good to know that in a short time from September 2007 in which the 1st FIRA Malaysia Cup was held until April 2008 where the 2nd FIRA Malaysia Cup was held, each polytechnics Robot Soccer team had improved by leaps and bounds.

Malaysia Boleh !! Malaysia Can !!

A Walk In the Past - History of Robot Soccer in Malaysia

In the year 2006, Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (DPCCE) had introduced Robot Soccer to eight Polytechnics in Malaysia.

They are :

  1. Ungku Omar Polytechnic (Perak)
  2. Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Polytechnic (Kedah)
  3. Kota Bharu Polytechnic (Kelantan)

This was done to stimulate the minds of the students and promote innovation in the field of autonomous robot

This has huge impact to all polytechnic involved.

On 8th to 10 September 2007, the inaugural Federation of International Robot Soccer Association (FIRA) Malaysia Cup 2007 was held.

Port Dickson Polytechnic was proud to be the CHAMPION of the 1st ever FIRA Malaysia Cup.
